The Spirit of Kentucky Balloon Festival has unfortunately been canceled.

Dear Friends of the Spirit of Kentucky Foundation,

 The Spirit of Kentucky Foundation must unfortunately announce the Spirit of Kentucky Balloon Festival has been cancelled for the 2011 year.

 With the uncertainty of the economy and the wild fluctuations of the stock markets our sponsors and potential sponsors could not commit to providing the type of support necessary to sustain an event as large as the Spirit of Kentucky Balloon Festival.  The Spirit of Kentucky Foundation could not go forth with a less-than-excellent event, and risk losing the esteem of the community, our pilots, volunteers, and sponsors.

 We want to sincerely thank all of those involved in trying to make the Festival the best it can be, including the pilots, sponsors, volunteers, balloon team, and management team. The mission statement of the Spirit of Kentucky Foundation is to provide the people of Louisville and the surrounding region the opportunity to participate in family-oriented events that promote our community and its values.  We accomplish this mission by creating and promoting events and activities that create economic impact, are unique, and draw large participation both locally and from outside the community. Beyond these immediate impacts we strive to create the ability to support local not for profit organizations that engage in similar missions; particularly those that support children and families.

 We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that the cancellation of this event may have caused. We have tried everything in our power to make this event possible, however, current market forces and circumstances proved too strong to avoid the cancellation. We did not want to wait to the last minute to make this change so we are announcing this today. Once again we appreciate all your efforts & support.
